FAQs
We hope we’ve managed to answer all the questions you might have somewhere on our website. If we’ve missed something please email us at info@awesomewalls.ie with your questions and we’ll do our best to help
Do I need to book?
If you are new to climbing you will need to book a session with our instructors. All sessions with our AWESOME instructors need to be pre booked. If you are an experienced climber and have filled out a membership form you can use our centre without booking.
How do I find the Centre?
There are detailed directions on getting to the centre in the bottom half of the Overview page on our website, see link here.
Is equipment hire included?
If you have booked for a session with our instructors at one of our centres that offer roped climbing then harness hire is included. When you first start climbing you'll find that it's fine to climb with trainers or similar on your feet. As you progress you may find that you want to use rock shoes, this is not included in session prices. Wall entrance does not include equipment hire.
How long can I stay?
Once members have paid to climb they can stay and climb for as long as their arm muscles allow. The only exception is our weekday lunchtime deal where climbing is only allowed between 11.30am and 2pm.
Help, I'm scared of heights!
We have walls starting from a meagre 2m and instructors that are very friendly, experienced and patient. So come along and we'll provide a session that is fun and challenging without being too scary!
What's included in a birthday party?
Birthday parties include instruction for the duration of the party booked and harness hire and certificates (for groups of more than 10). If you wish to have refreshments a party room is available for an additional fee. You can use this room to serve food that you provide. The party room needs to be booked with the party.
Is there a minimum or maximum age?
The minimum age for taking part in a session with our instructors is 6. If you're taking part without using our instructors there's no minimum age. There's no maximum age, if you feel fit and able then come along! We've had people well into their 90s using our centre.
Can I park my car?
Yes of course, we have over 30 parking spaces for the centre. In addition there is plenty of space around the centre in the business park although we do ask our guests to be mindful of other businesses in the area and not park in their own dedicated spaces.
Do I have to stay with my children?
If your children are under 16 you need to stay on the premises while they climb. If they're 16 or over they can stay unattended as long as they are with an instructor or are a competent climber and have had a membership form completed by a parent/guardian.
How do I book a session?
Simply call us on (01)8800088. We'll take a few details and payment over the phone.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
If you are coming along to one of our sessions then equipment is provided so just make sure that you wear loose fitting clothing and trainers on your feet. If you have your own equipment that you'd like to use feel free to bring it along.
I have a group, what are my options?
If you have a group of say kids/scouts/people the options available to you are: You can sign in two people and look after them yourself, each paying the usual entry fee. So if you have a group of 6 you'd need 3 able climbers to look after the 6 in the group. Alternatively you can book in a 1 hr group session with us for 12 euro a head and we will supply instructors (ratio 1:6) with hire gear included.
Is there anywhere nearby to eat?
Now we do have an excellent café that should be able to cater for your needs but if you want to go elsewhere then across the road from the business park is Charlestown shopping centre. There you get Eddie Rockets, The Bagel Factory, O’Briens, KFC and McDonalds amongst others. Also a couple of hundred metres further along the Jamestown Road after Charlestown shopping centre is the Deputy Mayor pub for all day carvery and decent pub grub.
