My name is Lisa, and I’ve worked at Awesome Walls for 18 years. I met my husband (Steve Wall) at Awesome Walls Liverpool, so now I am an Awesome Wall!
I started working as an instructor, but now I mainly hide away in the office, working behind the scenes to help with the running of Awesome Walls.
This year, I turn 40, so I wanted to take on a big challenge and raise money for charity. I have chosen to ride in the Fred Whitton Challenge, which takes place on 11th May 2025. My chosen charity is Secondary First, a charity close to my heart after losing my Nan 18 months ago.
The Fred Whitton Challenge covers 112 miles of breathtaking yet punishing terrain in the heart of the Lake District, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I will ascend iconic climbs such as Kirkstone, Honister, Newlands, Whinlatter, Hardknott, Wrynose, and Blea Tarn passes. The course can be completed in under six hours, but for most, it’s an all-day epic, with finishing times often exceeding eleven hours. With gradients as steep as 30% at the 98-mile mark, this is widely regarded as the most challenging one-day ride in the UK.
